Brooklyn
Just across the river from New York city, Brooklyn is one of the largest cities in the U.S.
There is big, beautiful Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Zoo and Botanic Gardens, some great clubs and bars, shopping, art galleries and of course, pizza. You can also find a great eco-friendly store called 3RLiving that sells lots of great household products and the best little biodegradable "business bags" for your dog. Most importantly, there are a bunch of vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Unfortunately, we've only had a chance to visit one.

The V-Spot has a great menu with some delicious options for lunch. We arrived on a very hot day after walking around the city. As with just about every vegan restaurant you visit, the staff was friendly and helpful. Could it be that those who think humanely about what they eat are some of the nicest people in the world? I don't know the answer, but I do know that V-Spot made us feel welcome and relaxed in their beautiful outdoor patio area. I had a delicious salad with seitan and Drew had a "chicken" burger. It was very low-key and we felt like we'd lived in the neighborhood for years. I only wished we could check out the movie nights!
