We've been traveling a lot lately, and I thought to myself how nice it would be if I could find a Web site that had first-hand information about vegetarian restaurants in cool cities. I wanted some place on the Web that was not just vegetarian-focused, but also travel-focused. So veggietrip.com is my attempt at this effort. It won't be a comprehensive list by any means (go to my links section for that kind of thing), but it will be a place you can visit to see pictures of great cities and great food.

I don't plan on listing places where vegetarians can find items to eat (salads, PB&J, etc.). Instead, I will try to create a list of places that have consciously made the decision to treat vegetarians and vegans as equals. Places where they know whether the soup is made with chicken stock or vegetable stock, where they know that vegetarians don't eat fish, and that cesear salad dressing is made with anchovies.

More about me

I have been a vegetarian for about 23 years or so now, since I was around 8 years old. I started out eating probably the worst vegetarian food possible because I didn't eat any veggies or fruit. Just pre-packaged macaroni and lots of french fries. I didn't like the taste of fruits and veggies until (THANK GOD) I finally discovered that organic foods taste delicious.

I don't take a political stance on food. There are of course great benefits to being vegetarian, and great ecological reasons for making the switch, but I respect people making their own choices.

The bottom line is I LOVE food and I love traveling with my husband Drew. I hope that you will find this Web site useful. I've always found that when traveling, the best advice you get is from other vegetarians.

More about Drew

Even though I will be the main writer for this Web site, I have to include my husband Drew here. We love going out to eat together, and he's been a vegetarian pretty much since we were married in 1998. It's great because we have different tastes in food and he's a bit more adventurous then I am. He keeps me trying new things and he was the one who got me started eating tofu. And Indian food. YUM. Drew is also a jazz musician and teacher and a great cook. It's really because of Drew that we travel so much. You can check out his Web site to see where he's playing.
